Did you know that a third of residents in elderly care settings have diabetes?
People with diabetes are twice as likely to be admitted to hospital (Diabetes UK 2019)
Do you work in the elderly care setting are you interested in getting an update on caring for the older residents with diabetes?
The Diabetes specialist nurses are running six sessions in the local area to provide a general update. These sessions are FREE, supported by local funding from the STP Diabetes programme.
Each session will last up to 3 hours and provide an update on diabetes care including; making a diagnosis, dietary advice, treatment options for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, managing diabetes complications (hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia). A community podiatrist will also provide a presentation.
The sessions are suitable for registered nurses and health care assistants, who work in the care settings such as in residential, nursing or care homes. Handouts will be given. Please follow the links below to secure your place. Or visit www.devontraininghub.co.uk
A short survey via survey monkey will be sent prior to your attendance, to help us audit the effect of the programme.
These courses are supported by our partners in the pharmaceutical industry by the provision of trade stands. Company products may be on display.
