Each session 1.30pm to 3pm.
Delegates are asked to attend all four sessions to complete the module.

Session 1 90 minutes
Introduction to ABCD
Intro from toolkit
What is ABCD?
Does it Work?
outcomes: understanding of ABCD, key principles and approach
Session 2 90 minutes
connecting – workshop and drawing triangle listening
Share an object an object with other people, the people. Then feed-back
what was said. Need to listen to build relationships.
Triangle listening exercise (Nina)
Session 3 90 minutes
outcomes: importance of listening, creating an understanding of context, tools
and techniques for connecting in community, how to build trust
Introduction to asset mapping
Design a fictional asset map in groups.
Examples of assets –especially the people
All have the same layout of a fictional place and each group will add
their different assets from their various areas.
Discuss how they might to do it in their own patch.
Homework:Come up with assets from their community.
Session 4 90 minutes
Learning outcomes: how to conduct asset mapping, range
of approaches, testing approach by doing, building confidence and connection,
process as well as output
Return with asset maps from their areas: Share maps in
groups – briefly.
How do we engage with all these assets?

Examples of engagement - - ask for examples – white board – door
knocking, cafes, street, bus stops, groups, posters, pop-ups, social media,
articles, flashmobs, carnival, gazebos at fairs etc
Presentation of examples - they choose which ones - from Toolkit
Participation time + questions
outcomes: introduction to engaging with people in community, using a strengths
based approach, importance of creative tools and techniques, interactive
learning by doing through skills game.
