million people having a diagnosis a further approximately 6.8 million (47%)

stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, cognitive
decline and premature death.

to test and adjust treatment recommendations (lifestyle and/or drug therapy)

This day has been
designed and is delivered by Judith Magowan, a nurse educator who set up the
nurse-lead hypertension clinic at the Okehampton Medical Centre where she works
as long-term conditions Lead. Judith is an allied health care professional on
the British and Irish Hypertension working party and was a committee member for
the recently updated NICE hypertension guidelines.
The whole day is suitable
for primary care nurses, GPs and pharmacists. The morning is also relevant to
health care assistants with the focus on accurate measurement of blood
pressure, appropriate investigations and cardiovascular risk assessment. The afternoon’s
programme covers initiation of medication and subsequent titration and add-ons,
patient education monitoring and on-going management.

Turn off from the main Derriford Road and turn left into the Main Car Park which is the second turning on the left.
If you let us have your registration number prior to arriving you can just park in the Visitors car park we can register this for you on the system. Or you can also request a parking permit from us to print out and put in your car. You can then just park and make your way down to our building as indicated which is the first building on the left just off the roundabout. If you have not sent in your registration prior to arriving then come to our reception and we will give you a parking permit to put in your car.
When you get to the front door of our building please press 1 then the bell sign and we will buzz you in. Go through the doors to the left of the lift then take the next corridor on your right and go to the reception desk to sign in.
